THE IRRESISTIBLE CHIN CHIN RECIPE.

Chin chin as seen in the picture is part of the Nigerian pastries because it's made of flour. It is produced in different almost similar ways but my recipe beyond doubt is definitely the one you should go for.

RECIPE
  • 3 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 cup of sugar or as desired
  • a pinch of salt
  • full cream milk (powdered or liquid)
  • nutmeg (optional)
  • cinnamon (if you've added nutmeg no need for this)
  • 3 tbspns of butter
  • 1 egg
  • vegetable oil (for frying)

PROCEDURE
The procedure is pretty straight forward
  • Pour the recipe in a bowl and mix first before adding water little by little till you get a soft dough. ensure it is not too soft or too hard. You can add little flour if the dough seems to be too sticky.
  • Cut out a small piece from the main dough and start rolling with your rolling pin. Roll till it's 1/6 inch thick (not too thick or too thin). Use a cutter to start cutting the rolled out dough into vertical or horizontal equal lines.
  • As seen in the picture, you can either cut your chin chin into small pieces or long pieces. Be careful not to sprinkle too much flour so that when frying the oil won't have bubbles.
  • After rolling and cutting all the dough, pour the vegetable oil in a pan, pour quite some good amount of oil because deep frying is the best for chin chin. Make sure the oil is hot but not too hot before you start putting the chin chin to fry. Do not over crowd the pan so that the chin chin doesn't soak oil.
  • Stir the chin chin after 3 mins and remove if it turns golden brown
  • Enjoy.
